COVID-19
COVID-19 & Our Activities
The music industry is not unaffected by the coronavirus pandemic. While the lockdown lasted, a lot of music festivals originally scheduled was cancelled. Even after the lockdown period, large public gatherings have either be banned or limited and therefore, the music industry doesn’t know the usual freedom. This has taken quite a lot of tolls on the music industry in general irrespective of the genres.
Nowadays, musicians and songwriters are stuck in the house recording or performing some other art. This is simply due to the nature of the disease. Covid-19 is a new virus caused by SARS-COV2 and spreads through the slightest contact with an infected person or surface. An infected person displays such symptoms as cough, sneezing, high temperature, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, head and body aches etc. over 14 days. Various restrictions have therefore been put in place to curb the spread.
Throughout 2020, the concern was how to stop the rapid spread of the virus, and therefore, a lot of lockdown measures were in place. Also, businesses that involve the crowd were declared closed down. In 2021, this may not be the case as the world is finally adjusting to the new change. Individual protection is more encouraged, and the music industry is getting back on tracks with each relaxed law.
First, to attend any social gathering, you must appear with a nose mask or a face shield to protect yourself and your neighbours. All businesses have handwashing stations for your use before entering any outlet, or you make use of alcohol-based sanitisers. This is because washing your hands for up to 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based sanitiser can eliminate any form of virus on your hands.
Also, it is preached every day that anyone experiencing symptoms should stay at home and isolate. Most important is the act of social distancing that is, staying at about 2ft or more away from the closest persons to you. We enjoin you to obey all these instructions while in public. More so, these are safety checks that would be in place before you are allowed in any musical concert, club, festival or other places.
In this trying time, we continue to reach out to you through our radio platform. Our radio program is hosted by one of the best presenters who takes us through his playlist for the day, covering different Jazz music genres, most especially Bebop, western and mainstream Jazz. We invite modern Jazz music artists from time to time to have a chit-chat session and evaluate Jazz music’s evolution from the late 19th century.
We help you reminisce about the good old days where you attend Jazz concerts now and then. Tune in on Tuesdays to Jazz on the radio where we talk about everything Jazz. See more information by clicking on Jazz on radio icon.
Our website also provides all the information you will need on Jazz music. We recommend links for music downloads and gives updates on music artists.
